WHALE SEARCH / DOLPHIN WATCH 2011

STARTS 9th JULY & CRUISES DAILY TILL 23RD JULY 2011

DEPARTS URANGAN BOAT HARBOUR HERVEY BAY

Times: 8.30am returning at 2pm approx.

Hervey Bay and Fraser Island Whale Search ToursBy combining our WHALE SEARCH with the HERVEY BAY DOLPHIN WATCH we not only give our guests the possibility to be one of the first to see the mighty Humpback Whales, as they purposely enter the Hervey Bay Marine Park for some 'R & R', before continuing on their return journey to their summer feeding grounds in Antarctica. But we also give them a longer cruise than our usual Half Day Whale Watch, and thus more time with the Whales and Dolphins

The diversity of wildlife is changing constantly but we can honestly state that the following is seen regularly on our Dolphin Watch Cruise: -Up to four varieties of dolphins, sting rays, turtles, fish, bird life, occasionally the endangered Dugong (sea cow), and in the Year 2000 we saw five other whale species.

All this with the beautiful backdrop of Heritage Listed Fraser Island.

Due to the unpredictability of Nature, we can NOT Guarantee that the Humpback Whale will be sighted, but we will endeavor to do our best to find them. However we DO GUARANTEE to show you Dolphins.

After seeing whales for a couple of days during our Whale Search Cruises we are likely to start Guaranteeing that you will see whales, so give us a call and ask how we are doing.

WHALESONG'S WHALE WATCH RECORD.

In 2000 we had 100% success rate for Whales between 22nd of July and the 6th of November.

In 2001 Whales were seen from 19th July to 24th July, then bad weather stopped our boat cruising for a few days. But then we had 100% success from 30th July to 6th of November.

In 2002 we first saw the whales on the 15th of July. We then had 100% success rate between the 17th of July and the 6th of November.

In 2003 we had 100% success rate for Whales between 19th of July and the 7th of November.

In 2004 we had 100% success rate for Whales between 17th of July and the 30th of October then also 1st to the 6th of Nov.

In 2005 we first saw a whale on the 2nd of July. Our next trip was then on the 9th and we saw whales for two days in a row until the weather turned interesting & we lost a day. The whale sightings continued for another couple of days and then became on & off again with the weather continuing to do the same. Then from the 24th we had 100% success rate for Whales up to the 31st of October, with the season finishing earlier than previous years possibly due to un-seasonally warm weather.

In 2006 we first saw the whales on the 13th of July. On & off for a couple of days, then 100% success rate between the 17th of July and the 6th of November.

In 2007 there was an unusual cold snap which had the whales waiting in warmer waters prior to arriving in the Bay. First whales were spotted on the 14th of July, but they were on again of again almost on a daily basis until the 24th of July. Whales seen daily from the 25th July 2007.

In 2008 great numbers of Whales were sighted on 12th July (first Whale Search day) & daily until the 15th of July. They were on & off until the 18th, which was the first day of daily whale watching cruises, which allowed us to operate through & including the 5th of November.

In 2009 our first whales where seen on the 7th of July. We then next saw whales on the 11th, 12th & then the 16th, 18th & then from the 21st we saw them daily.
